There are so many different CCTV systems on the market it can be hard to find out which one will best suit your requirements. The first option you need to consider is if you are going to go for a wired system or wireless. They both have advantages and disadvantages, below are a few points to consider:
Wired – Wired CCTV is exactly as it sounds. You will need to run cables from your cameras to the recording box then to your internet. You may also need to run separate power cables to the cameras if they do not use a POE cable which is Ethernet and Power in one. The advantages of using a wired system are that they are often very reliable, they should not be disrupted by other wireless signals as they are hard-wired to the router rather than connecting over the Wi-Fi. Another advantage of a wired system is it is often capable of supporting a larger amount of cameras, which can be a massive advantage in larger properties or offices for example.
Wireless – Wireless systems are security cameras which have power supplied to them through a cable but connect to your Wi-Fi network. These can often be the cheapest form of CCTV cameras and again have pros and cons. Wireless systems are very quick and easy to install and often do not require a specialist fitting company. They can easily be moved from one property to the next (if you decide to move) or to a different location within your property with ease.
