When looking to purchase a CCTV system you need to decide on what functionality is important to you and what you can do with it. For some people, they want their CCTV system to stand out as this alone has been known to be enough to deter burglars. For other people, the quality of the video and recording is most important as they want to be able to track down who committed a crime and pass the information on to the police.
You need to check how many cameras you want to have and that they can be added on to that system, you may also want to check if other cameras can be added at a later date if you need them to be.
Reporting is often quite important and you should make sure that the system has adequate reporting options. Many systems will email you notification if movement has been detected and some can even email you the footage. Some systems can call a number of different phone numbers to report the activity.
You don’t necessarily have to spend thousands of pounds on a CCTV system to get all of this functionality, some of the cheaper systems offer similar levels of protection, just may require a little bit more user interaction.
