The job of a close protection office

You may have seen lots of films with body guards and close protection offices, but is what you see in the movies reality? The job of a close protection office or bodyguard is essentially to ensure the safety of the person that they have been assigned to. They are normally hired to protect a public figure, member of royalty or someone extremely wealthy. They may be hired for one trip or event or they may be employed to work with a person for a number of months or years.

It is important to fully understand your role as a protection office. You may be tasked with a job to transport someone from one place to another and may be given rules such as not to make general conversation with them unless they speak to you. You will also have ensure that you do not disclose any confidential information to anyone – that includes friends or family as you may jeopardise the person you are responsible for.

Some people love the thrill of the security industry, knowing that they have a lot of responsibility for someone else’s safety but you need to be aware that it may entail long working hours and a lot of time on your feet.
