When travelling to and from any destination regardless of whether it is for business or pleasure, we all need to be aware of our own safety and if you are going with children, their safety too.
There may be certain things that put you more at risk than other people such as you are travelling alone, you are a tourist not a local or you have valuable items with you. It is important to understand what extra risks you may have and try and identify a way to minimise the risks as much as possible.
Some parts of the world are inherently more risky than others, these often change mostly due to political issues, so if travelling to a country that is experiencing these issues, keep yourself updated as to any recent updates that may affect the areas in which you are travelling to or through.
The UK government website has a lot of information about safety aspects of certain countries and countries in which it advises travel against.
Try to limit the number of valuables that you have on you when travelling and try not to expose them all too often. If someone sees that you have an expensive phone or a wallet pull of money, you may make yourself a more attractive target.
