Many of us now have CCTV installed at our homes and business premises but often we forget to check if they are working correctly. There is a slight advantage to having CCTV even if it doesn’t work, this is why people put up dummy cameras but if you have paid for the proper system, you may as well be using it.
Depending on what CCTV system you have, you may need to hardwire it to your internet using an Ethernet cable or you may be able to connect it over the WiFi. Often the issue with connecting via WiFi is that if your router goes off or needs to be reset you may need to connect the camera via a cable again.
Most CCTV systems come with access to an App that you can download on your smart phone or tablet. It is important to check the angle of the camera to ensure that you are recording the correct footage. You need to ensure that you do not film on to anyone else’s property without their permission. If you cannot help but film part of it then it is advisable to go and ask them if that is ok.
