Could you work in the security industry?

The security industry is vast and therefore it is very hard to make up a profile of the idea candidates.

If the role is in internet security for example, then you will need a totally different skill set to someone that wants to work in close protection.

If you are looking at going into internet security, then you will need to be happy to work in an office environment, spend long hours on a computer screen and be able to work last minute / be on call should there be a security breach that needs to be sorted out quickly.

Internet security is often about ensuring that there are no loop holes in the program or website that you are looking after. You will often need to be able to test your own work and the work of others thoroughly.

A close protection office will need to be able to be physically fit and be very aware of risks

You will need to be able to think fast on your feet, be prepared to work long and unsociable hours and be willing to travel. You will also need to have a number of security and police checks done to ensure you can be trusted as you may be told confidential information that cannot be leaked in to the wrong hands.
