Car CCTV is a relatively new concept where a driver installs a camera in their vehicle and records their and other road users driving. Some people have quested the use of them, calling them an invasion of privacy whilst others have welcomed the opportunity to record instants that occur on the road.
CCTV cameras can be useful in a number of instances to help prove innocents or to show criminal or hazardous behaviour of others. For instance, CCTV cameras have been used in court to prove that someone did not drive in excess of the speed limit or to show another road user clearly cutting in front of them and then braking meaning that the other driver has no choice but to go in to the back of them. With the recent “cash for crash” scheme that has been going round, it is no surprise that drivers want to try and protect themselves from this happening.
