Access control systems are a very important security feature for many businesses and residential properties. There are several different access control systems on the market. They have been designed to make accessing a building as easy and convenient as possible for those who are authorised to do so whilst still adding a high level of security.

A recent advance in access control was created to allow people to use an app on their smart device to gain access to a property or area within a property.

The app contains a tag or QR code which they can hold up against a barcode scanner. This will check there access level and give them entry to the property. As with the normal ID tags, you do have to be careful that the phone does not fall into the wrong hands but with most people having a password lock on their phone, it is probably more secure than using an ID tag that they wear around their neck.

Biometric access control such as face recognition is already been used on smart devices and in some premises where face scanners are needed such as law enforcement buildings or government buildings where security is high.
