Raytheon Awarded Contract for F-15C AESA Radars

Boeing Company has awarded Raytheon Company a follow-on contract for the sixth production lot of APG-63(V)3 active electronically scanned array radars for U . s . a . Air Force and Air National Guard F-15C aircraft.

“We had been a partner at the F-15 for greater than 40 years,” said Mark Kula, vp of Tactical Airborne Systems for Raytheon’s Space and Airborne Systems business. “This recent contract enables continued delivery of our APG-63(V)3 AESA radar that gives unprecedented situational awareness for the U.S. Air Force and Air National Guard.”

The original contract from Boeing began in 2007 as a part of the F-15C upgrade program. To this point, greater than 46 radar systems plus spares was delivered. Production lot six, awarded in March of 2013, includes radar modification kits and spares for the Air Force and Air National Guard.

Raytheon recently delivered its 500th tactical AESA radar – an industry first. The company’s AESA product line, that’s flown on F-15, F/A-18 and EA-18G aircraft, has achieved greater than 400,000 operational flight hours.

The APG-63(V)3 AESA radar is an all-weather, multi-mode radar that gives extended range, improved tracking and precision engagement for the F-15C. Designed for straightforward integration of growth options and technology advances, this flexible radar provides the F-15 fleet with significantly enhanced air-to-air capabilities and offers warfighters a considerable combat edge.
