How to stay safe when shopping at Christmas

When it comes to security it’s not only our homes that we need to be mindful of. The run-up to Christmas is a very busy time of year for shoppers and unfortunately, that means more targets for thieves. People often go out with large amounts of cash or are buying expensive presents and this is a thief’s dream! When shopping for Christmas you need to be savvy and ensure that you are safe. If you are buying expensive gifts, try to park as close to the shop as possible and once you have made your purchase put it straight in your vehicle before going elsewhere. When putting presents in the back of your car try and cover them up so no one can see in to find out what you have bought. Always double check that you have locked your car before you walk away and that all the windows are done up.

If you are carrying large amounts of money around with you, try and split it up so you have some in an internal pocket and some in a handbag or front pocket with a zip. Try and be mindful of who is around you and be sure that you do not store money in bags or pockets that are behind you where you cannot see.
