Security on the channel tunnel

The channel tunnel is the tunnel that goes from Folkestone, Kent to Calais and then on to Paris in France. Security is also one of the utmost priorities to Eurotunnel. Just like safety, security of people and goods (customers, Eurotunnel staff, etc.) remains daily at the heart of Eurotunnel’s choices.

With the recent worries about terrorism attacks, especially following the ones in France and the recent Football Euros, security have been heightened even more.

Border control is very tight at the Euro tunnel and year upon year this is improved. Since 1st July, some 37 km of 4 metres high security fences have been erected around the terminal, while the number of cameras has increased to over 500. There is also double the security staff onsite.

Security systems are being put in place year upon year which are making it harder for the tunnel to become at risk to a terrorist threat and the French and UK governments are constantly checking to ensure that the security measures up to where it should be.
