When CCTV cameras were introduced there was a great deal of debate, and people were worried that they will always be spied on, but that’s obviously not always the case. CCTV cameras can be installed to deceive or deter.
Deceitful
If you’re looking to catch a thief then you’re likely to take the deceitful approach, using secret cameras to obtain evidence to catch the criminal and have him or her punished. There are many different types of covert security cameras that look like everyday objects and they’re designed to record evidence without attempting to deter an individual
Deterring
CCTV can deter an individual when you warn people that your premises have CCTV. You may include signs and a brightly coloured camera, to deter a criminal, but obviously these are not ideal if you’re attempting to catch the criminal off guard.
Some would argue that deterring is the right way to go about it but that all depends on what you’re trying to achieve. If you’re constantly a victim of crime and you’re looking for a solution, you may be better off with covert cameras; you can then find out that the individual is that’s continuously stealing from you.
