Most of us are aware how important home security is and with more and more products coming on to the market every month, it can get a little confusing as to which one is best for you to use. CCTV has helped cut down on break ins and vandalism and also helped to capture the culprits that do it but is your CCTV system being used against you to actually aid criminals?
Many CCTV systems work off WiFI connections. The cameras usually connect to your home WiFi meaning that you can then view the footage and perform actions such as turning the cameras or sounding an alarm when away from the home. Often these systems come with software that has been set up with a default password and many users forget to change this. This makes it easy for someone else to hack in to your CCTV and use it against you. They can turn it off or even worse use it to see when you are in and when you are out of the house and decide to target your home when it is empty. They may eve use it to track your daily routines to see how long they would have when you go out.
