Closed circuit television also known as CCTV has been around for a good number of years, but over the last ten years or so there have been some drastic improvements to the systems available to the public and also a huge drop in price.
Historically it was often only the rich and famous that had good quality CCTV systems, but with the option of picking individual cameras up for less than £60, many members of the public now own one or two. CCTV systems vary hugely from the low cost IP cameras to a fully integrated CCTV and alarm system. Depending on what system you go for, you may need to call in the experts when it comes to wiring it in. some cameras that you can buy allow you to set them up quite quickly yourself, but others may need to be haired wired in to the power to avoid them being turned off and also linked up to room sensors.
Before buying a CCTV system, consider what you want the system for. If you only really want it to act as a deterrent then the cheaper cameras may just do the job. If you are looking for quality images and a system that links in to the police, then you may need to dig a little deeper in your pocket.
