Saab Wins Swedish Gripen Support Order
Defence and security company Saab has received an order from the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) for reserve materiel regarding Gripen for the years 2014-2016. The order’s total value amounts to approximately MSEK 184.
This order for the 3-year period provides options for putting suborders and have been configured in the framework of the previously signed agreement with FMV, Gripen PBL (Performance Based Logistics), which encompasses performance-based support and upkeep for Gripen.
“That FMV has ordered performance-based support and upkeep this far upfront gives both Saab and FMV the potential to guarantee effective operations until 2017,” says Stefan Rösliden, answerable for order configuration at Saab.
The order applies to expanded supply of reserve materiel for maintenance conducted by units of the Swedish Militia.
The original contract with FMV includes options for extra suborders as much as a maximum value of SEK 2 billion for the period ending in December 2016. With this order, a complete of MSEK 514 of the available options has been exercised.
